About English Letter Pronunciation
The English alphabet consists of 26 letters, which can be categorized based on their pronunciation characteristics: الأبجدية الإنجليزية تتكون من 26 حرفاً، يمكن تصنيفها بناءً على خصائص نطقها:
Vowels (A, E, I, O, U) are produced with an open vocal tract, allowing air to flow freely. In English, vowels can have multiple pronunciations depending on their position in a word and the surrounding letters. الحروف المتحركة (A, E, I, O, U) تُنتج بقناة صوتية مفتوحة، تسمح بتدفق الهواء بحرية. في اللغة الإنجليزية، يمكن أن يكون للحروف المتحركة نطقات متعددة اعتماداً على موقعها في الكلمة والحروف المحيطة بها.
Semi-vowels (W, Y) are phonetically similar to vowels but function as consonants in syllable structure. They are also known as glides because they "glide" into the following vowel sound. الحروف شبه المتحركة (W, Y) تشبه صوتياً الحروف المتحركة ولكنها تعمل كحروف ساكنة في هيكل المقاطع. تُعرف أيضاً باسم الأصوات المنزلقة لأنها "تنزلق" نحو الصوت المتحرك التالي.
Consonants are produced by obstructing airflow in some way. They can be classified further by their manner of articulation (stops, fricatives, nasals, etc.) and place of articulation (bilabial, alveolar, velar, etc.). الحروف الساكنة تُنتج عن طريق عرقلة تدفق الهواء بطريقة ما. يمكن تصنيفها further حسب طريقة نطقها (انفجارية، احتكاكية، أنفية، إلخ) ومكان النطق (شفوية، أسنانية، حنكية، إلخ).
Semi-vowels - الحروف شبه المتحركة
Semi-vowels (W and Y) are special sounds in English that can function as consonants or as vowels depending on their position in a word. الحروف شبه المتحركة (W و Y) هي أصوات خاصة في اللغة الإنجليزية يمكن أن تعمل كحروف ساكنة أو كحروف متحركة حسب موقعها في الكلمة.
Letter W - حرف W
It functions as a consonant when it appears at the beginning of a word or syllable, such as: يعمل كحرف ساكن عندما يأتي في بداية الكلمة أو المقطع الصوتي، مثل:
It functions as a vowel when it is part of a diphthong, such as: ويعمل كحرف متحرك عندما يكون جزءاً من حرف متحرك مزدوج، مثل:
Letter Y - حرف Y
It functions as a consonant when it appears at the beginning of a word or syllable, such as: يعمل كحرف ساكن عندما يأتي في بداية الكلمة أو المقطع الصوتي، مثل:

Note: In some rare cases, the letter Y can also function as a vowel in the middle of a word, as in "gym". ملاحظة: في بعض الحالات النادرة، يمكن أن يعمل حرف Y كحرف متحرك في منتصف الكلمة أيضاً، كما في كلمة "gym".
